Seniors’ Group
March 10, 2025
Welcome to the Seniors’ Group at Seckford, a thriving group of players who enjoy their golf and social gatherings. Being part of the group gives you the opportunity to meet new people and play with different individuals each week, this in addition to any other club golf you might want to play.
The Seniors’ Group is open to all Seckford Golf Club (SGC) members aged 55+ and you can play with the group as little or as often as suits your personal circumstances. However, being a member of the Seniors’ Group gives you easy access to play in organised fun and formal competitions, as well as friendly matches against local clubs.
The Seniors’ Group is underpinned by the popular roll ups which are held every Wednesday morning from 8.00am to 9:30am. The format is usually a team game with players going out in groups of 3, and the organisers do their best to get an even mix of handicaps across all teams. There is a £1 entry fee and cash prizes for the winning and second place teams. The roll ups are an ideal way of meeting new players and making new friends, with the social side just as important as the golf.
If you are interested in playing in one of the roll ups, please leave your details with the pro shop and they will pass on your details to the Seniors’ Group Organiser. Alternatively, simply pop along to a roll up (please arrive before 08.15), introduce yourself to the organisers on the day, and they will take it from there.
A monthly Stableford and Medal competition is held every other Friday, open to any member of Seckford Golf Club – these competitions are open all day and are not exclusive to members of the Seniors’ Group.
Seniors’ friendly matches are played against other local clubs during the spring and summer, both home and away. Teams comprise of 12 players and there is a sit-down lunch after the golf. If you would like to be considered for any of these matches, please add your name to the sign-up sheet on the Seniors’ notice board and the Seniors’ Captain will be in touch – these friendly matches are open to anyone aged over-55 with a WHS handicap.
